The Cancer Safe Kerala initiative was launched on November 1, 2024, Kerala Piravi Day, at Pangode Military Station, symbolizing a new chapter in the state's fight against cancer. The event marked a significant partnership between Swasthi Foundation, the Indian Armed Forces, and healthcare institutions like NIMS Hospital and Gokulam Medical College. Brigadier Salil M.P. of Pangode Military Station emphasized the Armed Forces' commitment to public health, reinforcing the initiative's importance.
The launch focused on raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, especially regarding the rise in breast and cervical cancers in Kerala. Free screening camps, educational programs, and advanced treatment centers will be set up across the state. This collaboration marks a major step toward making Kerala a cancer-safe state through proactive community engagement and strong institutional support.
